Right path.

Salam, good day. RTB Media Carnival came to an end yesterday with a high note. According to the statement by the organising committee, almost 175,000 has visited the carnival since it was launched on Wednesday.
Not only RTB, but the carnival also involves the participation of RTB's stakeholders from various government agencies as well as the private sectors.
I can hardly pay a visit since the carnival was also coincides with the Inter Ministries Sports, which I've covered all week. But yesterday I manage to spent couples of hours to tour round ICC.
It was very noisy yesterday, 'Bermukun' at the main hall entrance, 'Battle of the Band' at the main hall and Best 914. But the most happening was the appearance of Wilda Hamid and Giovanni Tobing of 'Cinta dan Anugerah'. Very happening indeed, cant wait for next year's carnival:)

Inter-Ministry Sports Festival kicks off

Sunday, January 23, 2011

2353 participants to compete for 167 medals on offer.

A TOTAL of 2353 officers and staff will battle for 167 medals as the Inter-Ministry Sports Festival officially kicked off at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.

The numbers only make up 4.9 per cent of those working in the civil service and Acting Director of the Department of Youth and Sports (JBS) Hj Abdul Malik Hj Mohammad is trying to encourage more to partake in future editions of the annual tournament.

"In this case, the organising committee members need to think of strategies and steps to increase the number of participants of government officers and staff in the future," said Hj Abd Malik, chairman of the organising committee.

Meanwhile guest of honour, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Laila Diraja Dato Paduka Hj Hazair Hj Abdullah, hopes that the eight-day competition will enlighten participants of the role sport plays in daily life.

"With this tournament, we will increase awareness of the role of sport in physical health, mental, spirit of success and understanding among officers and staff," said the minister.

"Through sports, officers and staff can decrease the level of stress in the office and avoid a number of chronic diseases such as obesity, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, diabetes and others," he added.

Pehin Dato Hj Hazair also shared the preliminary findings of the Ministry of Health's 2009 integrated health screening that involved 7,600 officers and staff in the civil service. It showed that 63.4 per cent of the participants were obese, 55.2 per cent with high level of cholestrol, 14.7 per cent with high blood pressure and 14.2 per cent had high levels of glucose.

"Therefore, the ministries must campaign to encourage officers and staff to exercise to avoid health risks," said the minister.

Following the launching of the multi-sport event, Ministry of Development representative Ak Mohd Saiful Azri Pg Roslee, the 2009 Borneo Games "Best Male Athlete", read the sports pledge before the guest of honour was introduced to the head of each contingents respectively.

The annual competition is a combination of two different tournaments; the Inter Ministry Sports Championship organised by the JBS under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Inter Ministry Sports Championship in conjunction with the Civil Service Day organised by the Civil Service Department under the Prime Minister's Office.

Twelve contingents will compete in 10 venues over the course of eight days in 11 sports: 9-ball pool, 10-pin bowling, athletics, badminton, darts, futsal, netball, sepak takraw, top-spinning (gasing), tug-of-war and volleyball.

Held in conjunction with last year's 17th Civil Service Day, the tournament aims to fulfill the National Sports Policy, specifically, in the category of community sports.

Score goals.

Salam, good day. Hope you feeling good all this week. The year 2011 brings a lot of promises so far, but yet to be finalise. As I've said in my previous postings, it is going to be my busiest year ever. The words of wisdom once stated '...hardwork brings success...' which has motivated me to be more proactive and productive. It is very important for me to adapt time management efficiently and grab those opportunities. Time flies away from you and opportunities only came once, unless you run with time before you running out of it and look out for opportunities but not only to wait. May Allah subhanahu wata'ala guide me to achieve my goal this year and years to come and be a good role model to my wife and kids as well as my brothers and sisters:)

Cars at every corner baby...wohooo...
Alright, the traffic control at Chung Hwa Middle School came under microscope yesterday from the Police Force Traffic Control Department. For me, I've been suffering for four years while fetching and sending my daughters there. It has been a major problem for years. Could you imagine, there is only one way in and one way out to a school which caters hundred of students? I hope those relevant authorities will step up their effort, as being shown by the Police Force to overcome the traffic problem.

(FIFA.com)

Argentina’s Lionel Messi collected the FIFA Ballon d’Or, his second consecutive title, while Brazil’s Marta continued her winning streak by claiming her fifth FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year award at the FIFA Ballon d’Or Gala held at the Zurich Kongresshaus on Monday evening. Meanwhile, José Mourinho, the Portuguese coach of Real Madrid, and Germany’s women’s national team coach Silvia Neid were the inaugural winners of the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men’s Football and FIFA World Coach of the Year for Women’s Football awards, respectively.
These awards were decided after a poll in which the captains and head coaches of the men’s (for the two men’s football awards) and women’s (for the two women’s football awards) national teams as well as international media representatives selected by France Football voted for candidates in each of the four categories. The votes from each of the three groups counted for one-third of the final result.
It was a night to remember, with on-stage appearances by former and current football stars, top celebrities and a performance by musician by Jamie Cullum to mark the first-ever awarding of the FIFA Ballon d’Or following an alliance to combine the FIFA World Player of the Year award with the France Football Ballon d’Or agreed by FIFA and the Amaury Group in Johannesburg in July 2010.
Messi had an outstanding 2010, winning the Spanish league with his club Barcelona. Messi obtained 22.65% of the votes, ahead of his club team-mates Andrés Iniesta (17.36%) and Xavi (16.48%).
Marta thrilled fans in the Women’s Professional Soccer League in the USA, where she won the Golden Boot and was elected best player of the season with FC Gold Pride. She collected 38.20% of the votes, ahead of Germany’s Birgit Prinz and Fatmire Bajramaj, who received 15.18% and 9.96%, respectively.
Mourinho, who led Inter Milan to the UEFA Champions League, the Italian Serie A and the Italian cup before moving to Real Madrid in the summer of 2010, won with 35.92% of the votes, ahead of Spanish national coach Vicente del Bosque, who received 33.08%, and Barcelona’s Pep Guardiola (8.45%).
Meanwhile, Silvia Neid, coach of current world champions Germany, led the women’s coach category with 24.06% of the votes, ahead of Germany’s U-20 women’s team coach Maren Meinert (18.26%) and the Swedish coach of the USA women’s national team Pia Sundhage (11.68%).
The FIFA/FIFPro World XI to honour the best eleven players of the year 2010, as chosen by over 50,000 professional players from all over the world, went to a “dream team” consisting of Iker Casillas (Spain) in goal; Maicon (Brazil), Lúcio (Brazil), Gerard Piqué (Spain) and Carles Puyol (Spain) in defence; Wesley Sneijder (Netherlands), Xavi (Spain) and Andrés Iniesta (Spain) in midfield; and Lionel Messi (Argentina), Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) and David Villa (Spain) up front.
The FIFA Puskás Award for the “most beautiful goal” of the year as voted for on FIFA.com by over one million fans was also handed out. This prize, created in honour and in memory of Ferenc Puskás, the captain and star of the Hungarian national team during the 1950s, went to Turkey’s Hamit Altintop for his fantastic goal in the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying match between Kazakhstan and Turkey played in Astana on 3 September 2010.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu received the FIFA Presidential Award from President Joseph S. Blatter for his outstanding commitment to youth development worldwide and his contribution to the use of football as a catalyst for positive social change, as well as for the support he gave to the hosting of the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, the first one on African soil.
The FIFA Fair Play Award was given to the Haiti U-17 women’s team, who had to endure many hardships following the earthquake which struck their country in January 2010, during which their head coach sadly passed away. The team showed great courage to make it to the final round of the CONCACAF qualifiers for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup 2010, where their performance was applauded by the fans despite their eventual elimination. The award was collected by the captain of the team, Hayana Jean-François. (http://www.fifa.com/)

24 Months Old.

Salam, good day. Today marks bruneidaily's 2nd anniversary since its establishment on 9 January 2009. bruneidaily.blogspot has grew up as a platform for me to share my thoughts and provide news as an alternative to others. Though there is still room for improvement, however with years to come I wish bruneidaily would provide you with more informative and useful contents. I was thinking of to get myself a new camera and a new laptop as well.
The year 2010 is one not productive for me, but 2011 will be my busiest ever. I will be attending college this year *Insya Allah* to further my studies.
With this, I'm sure challenges will come to me. Be it in the office, at home, in the college, with the guidance of Allah subhanahu wata'ala, I hope I can cope with those challenges.
Thank you very much to my family, friends and the readers for your continous support, Allah bless:)
